Main Ops

Prologue: An Army without Borders

The game starts with some text, giving the background of events that happed in previous Metal Gear games. After the starting credits, you will enter the tutorial mode. This will teach you the basic game controls. The specific instructions vary depending on which control setup you have selected.

Investigate the Supply Facility

Location: Playa del Alba: When you get control of Snake on the beach, turn around and you will find a ration. Explore the beach and you will find targets you can shoot for practice. There is extra ammo here, and some grenades. When you are ready to leave, throw a grenade at the fence.
Location: Bosque del Alba: In this jungle there are several mercs. Try sneaking past them. This is good practice for later in the game. If they see you, you can shoot them. If they call for backup, the person on the other end of the radio will refuse to send any, so you won't have to deal with reinforcements.
Location: Puerto del Alba: This area has some shipping containers and three guards. On the north side of the area is a big box. Get to the building to the east. Go up the stairs and wait for the guard to face away from you and run into the door.
Next you will see an interactive scene. When you see an R press the right shoulder button. When you see a triangle, tap the triangle button repeatedly. At the end of the scene you will see the game's title.

Chapter 1: A Country Without an Army

Contact Sandinista Comandante

El Cenagal: Jungle: There are two guards here. The first one has his back to you. The other walks around, but is still an easy target.
El Cangal: Ravine: This area is empty, except for some supplies you can pick up.
El Cangal: Swamp: There are three guards here. Two of them are walking patrols; one is standing next to a boat.
Rio del Jade: This is an enemy compound. In the main building is a machinegun. If you can get there you can gun down all the guards in the compound. Try going around to the right. You can use the stacked beams as cover. You can go all the way around and sneak into the building.

Pursue Amanda

Rio Del Jade: Move forward and use the machinegun to take out any enemies. A second wave will arrive, but they bunch up as they go around the guard tower so they are easy to kill. On the second floor of the tower are the design specs for the Stun Grenade.
Swamp: There is a single guard here. He has his back to most of the area. Either sneak past him or kill him.
Ravine: There is only a lone guard here, and he has his back to you. Take him out and move along the hall. You will come to a bridge. Wait for the guard on the bridge to walk away from you, then walk onto the bridge. Stand, and you will get the option to climb over the side of the bridge.
Swamp (North): One guard with his back to you and another on the path farther on. Near the first guard you will find the design specs for the M10 sub-machine gun.

Bananal Fruta de Oro: Sorting Shed: On the west side of this area is a small room. You can see it easily on the map. Here you will find a blueprint for a twin barrel shotgun, and a POW you can rescue using the Fulton.
When you exit the area, you will see an LAV type G. You will have to face it in the next mission.

Armored Vehicle Battle: LAV-Type G

The sniper rifle and the LAW work well for this mission. The LAV-Type G is in a big open field. To start off, take out the infantry next to the vehicle. The sniper rifle really shines here, because the area is so open and combat is often at long range. Once the infantry is neutralized move to medium range and use the LAW.
Once you have damaged the LAV enough, the commander will stick his head out of the top. Shoot him.
After this mission you will unlock your med team, sick bay, and Amanda will join your team.
Another method that works well is after obtaining the sneaking suit. Just sneak around each soldier and aim your gun at each of their backs to stick them up. They will lie down and you could easily use the fulton system without alerting the others. After using the fulton on 12 of these soldiers the commander will pop up out of the top of the vehicle to look around. Tranq him to sleep, don't aim at his helmet though. You'll get an easy S-rank if done fast enough.

escue Chico

Camino de Lava: Hillside: There are two guards here, but they are far away from each other. Because you have two new teams to fill, you may want to capture them.
Camino de Lava: Junction: An you enter this area you will hear gunshots. A sniper is up on the ridge ahead and to your left, and his is doing some target practice. If you have the sniper rifle, the best thing to do is to shoot him. You will set off an alert, but if you back up to where you entered this area you can wait out the alert. On the there are two more mercs patrolling the area. On the train is a POW you can balloon out.
Aldea Los Despiertos: This area is a small village. There are several guards walking around. Chico, the guy you're looking for, is in one of the houses. You can check to see if he's inside a house by going to the door and using the action button. You can only do that at the blue doors. Chico is in a house in the middle of the area.

Pursue the Jungle Train

Aldea Los Despiertos: There are three guards here. One of them is directly in front of you when you start. The exit is on the south side of the area.
Camino De Lava: Junction: Last time you were in this area there was a sniper on the west ridge. This time there is another sniper here, but this time he is on the east ridge. Use the exit on the east side. If you want to go to Camion de Lava: Hillside to the south, you can pick up a POW, who is in the very southern tip of that area.
Cafetal Aroma Encantado: Entrance: When you enter this area you can go to the left, which will take you to an alley at Aldea Los Despiertos. You will find Love Box #1 here. Now go back and go through the fence. The first part of this area has two guards. There is a POW next to the building on the west side. Go up the hill along the road and you will encounter two more guards.
When you pass through the next chain-link fence be careful. There is a guard on a catwalk in this area. Because he's above you he can be hard to see. Farther along this alley, on the right side is a POW.
Cafetal Aroma Encantado: Mill: On the southwest side of this area is a room with a POW. In the center of this area is a fenced off room. You will find another POW there. There is also a ladder on the east side of this fenced off room. You can climb up it to a second level. The exit to the building on this second level. Go down the stairs, and under the stairs you will find some rations.
In the next area you will have to take out a group of five guards. Start off with a rocket launcher or other large weapon. The M16A1 or sniper rifle is a good choice to finish off the survivors. You will then see a cut scene with a tank. You will fight it in the next mission.

Tank Battle: T-72U

In this mission you will have to take out a tank and some infantry. The infantry tend to charge you, so when selecting weapons be sure to take something that does well at short range and long range (like the M16A1). You'll also want a rocket launcher.
If the tank sees you, it will shoot through cover, including the train cars. You can avoid the tank's shots if you keep moving. It has trouble leading, with its shots.
If you like long range combat you can enter the building to the left of where you start. You can go to the back of this building and the tank won't enter or get too close to you. The infantry will close in on you, but that just means you can take them out at close range and capture them.

Destroy the Barricade

Cafetal Aroma Encantado: Mill: Under the stairs are some rations. Go up the stairs but be careful when you go through the door because there is a guard right next to it.
Cafetal Aroma Encantado: Entrance: Just like last time you were here, there is a guard on the catwalk in the small alley where you start. From here if you want to go all the way to Camino De Lava: Hillside there is a POW in the southern tip of the area you can pick up. Watch out for the two snipers in Camino De Lava: Junciton.
Aldea Los Despiertos The guards here are wearing helmets, so if you're going for headshots on them you will have to use at least two shots. Go to the wall on the northwest part of the map. Equip the C4, aim at the wall, then press the fire button. This will plant the C4. Walk away, then press the fire button again to blow the wall.

Infiltrate the Crater Base

Los Cantos: Canyon: This area is a bridge. There is one guard on the top deck of the bridge. Half way across the bridge the top deck stops and there are stairs to a lower deck. There are two guards down there. There is a staircase to the other side of the upper deck.
Los Cantos: Ridge: This area has three guards. One is next to a guard booth, the other two are next to the truck. Don't forget to check out the bunkers here. One of them has a POW
Fuerte La Ladera: This area has a wall. There is one guard in front of the wall, and another two on top. There are also two machineguns up there. The only way up the wall is a ladder that goes up the front. Taking out the guard in front is relatively easy, and the two guards up top are too far away to see him. When you get near the wall one of the guards on the top may climb down the ladder to investigate. They are easy to attack as they are coming down the ladder. Once on top of the wall there is another ladder near the stairs. This goes to a room with a POW.
In the next area you will see an interactive cut scene. You will have to choose a truck. The correct truck is fourth from the right.

You can also find a cameo of the game's creator, Hideo Kojima here. Select in the third truck from the right (license plate "Centro America 63824 Peace Sentinel"). If you look in this truck you will see him in the truck, and Snake will recognize him. "Hideo" will join your team.

Pupa Battle

For this fight, you may want to bring two rocket launchers as your main weapons. You will need the extra ammo that a second rocket launcher will provide. Even then, you'll need at least one supply drop. C4 is worthless because planting the C4 requires you to touch the Pupa, and you will take damage if you touch it.

This fight takes place in an arena, with no cover. There are three tunnel entrances you can stand in, which provides some level of protection. There are also some ladders that lead to ledges, but they don't give you a big advantage. The best defense you have is to run to avoid attacks.
The Pupa's attacks include:
  • Electric Shock - It has two electric attacks. When it says "Engaging shock units" it will shoot electricity just like a machinegun. Run to avoid it.
  • Shock Mines - It will shoot out mines all over the arena. It will then give the warning "Shock Units at maximum." It then shoots electricity that jumps between the mines. Make sure you are far away from any mines when it uses this attack.
  • Charge - The vehicle will drive at you and try to run you over. When it is about to start, run in one direction, perpendicular to its line of travel. Once it gets going it will not change course. You can also lay down to avoid this attack.
  • Machine Guns' - There are machine guns planted over its body. Keep moving to avoid their fire.
  • Jump - it jumps from the arena wall. Treat it just like the charge attack.
Once you have done enough damage, the large pod on the front will drop to the floor. You must now shoot the pod with one more rocket. Run up to it and jump inside. You will then have a mini-game to play. Grab as many boards as you can within the time limit. Just select them and press X.
After the fight, Huey will join your team, and Outer Ops will be unlocked.

Chapter 2: The Phantom Hero

Travel to the Cloud Forest

Selva de la Leche: Jungle: When you start you must be careful because there are two guys hiding in the jungle waiting to ambush you. If you look on the left side there is a small elevated area you can climb up to. Go up here and you can sneak around behind the first guy. He's hiding behind a tree. The other guy is just a little farther up. Ahead the area narrows and you will see a practice target. In front of this target is a tree, and there is a third guy hiding behind it.
Selva de la Leche: Hillside: When you enter this area you will see a target dummy. Just past this target is a log, and next to it, a tree. Each of these objects has a guy hiding behind it. Farther along there is another guy hiding the northern most tree in the area. Near him you will see a box, which contains a new outfit. There is also a POW on the west side of this area.
The next area is Catarata de la Muerte, and here you will encounter an Mi-24A that you will fight in the next mission.

Attack Chopper Battle: Mi-24A

You will have to face the helicopter and several ground troops. The troops are at close range, so pick at least one weapon that does well at close range.
When you start the mission you will see only a small area in front of you. This doesn't look like much room to maneuver. Instead of advancing toward the infantry, turn around and you will see a larger area where you can run around. Before you go, try throwing a grenade or two in front of you to take out some of those ground troops.
The helicopter has both machineguns and rockets. As long as you keep moving these wont' hit you very often.
Every now and then the helicopter will unload more troops. It will stop and hover, the door will open and they will jump out. If you shoot a rocket right into the door of the helicopter just after it opens, you can kill all the troops before they get out.
As you run around this area you will find an extra Fulton recovery system, just in case you want to add some more members to your team. This is harder that normal, because if you stop moving and are out in the open, the helicopter will shoot you. The first time you do this mission, just focus on winning.
You can't shoot down the helicopter, even with a rocket launcher. What you must do is kill or capture 20 of the ground troops. This will take a fair amount of waiting because the chopper drops off four troops, then flies around for a while. You will have to wait through four drop-offs and kill or capture all the troops before you get to 20. Once you have taken out 20, you will have to do at least some damage to the helicopter. If you are low on rockets, you can use the M60. The pilot will open the chopper's hatch on the side of the cockpit. Shoot him. The rocket launcher is a good one-hit-kill, but any gun you have will also do.

Head For The Lab

You must have the ID card in your equipment inventory for this mission.
Selva de la Muerte: Bottom of Cliff: There are two snipers here, but they are very difficult to see. Your best bet is to stay along the wall on your right. If you walk along this wall they won't see you.
Selva de la Murerte: Top of Cliff: There are several enemies here, but just like the last area, if you stay along the right wall they won't see you. You will find a POW along the way, if you stay near the right wall. If you want to recruit some of the enemies, go next to the exit, then start hunting them. If things go wrong you can go through the exit. You will see a cut scene when you pass through. In the next area the alert will be over.
Ruinas de Xochiquetzal: This is a narrow set of ruins. In the first half there's really only one way to go. There are some guards here, and you will have to take them out to get past them. The good news is that if you set off an alert the reinforcements will only come from in front of you. If you have a sniper rifle you can easily take them out. If you have the Mosin-Nagant you can take out a bunch of enemies and recruit them.

Locate the ID Card

The CIA merc, in his orange jacket.
The CIA merc, in his orange jacket.
For this mission you must backtrack through the areas you just passed. You must search through each area to find a CIA merc. Which area he's in is random. When you enter each area you will hear bird calls. If you hear the call of a quetzal bird then the merc is in that area. You can use a codec call to ask Cecile what a quetzal call sounds like. It is fairly hard to hear because its is mixed in with other bird calls. You may be better off just searching for the merc. You can't miss him because he is in a bright orange jacket.
When you find the merc, kill or stun him. Stand over him and search his body. Make sure you don't have the Fulton equipped, because the button to search is the same button as activating the Fulton. Pick up the card he drops. Once you have the card, go back to where you started to end the mission.
When you prep for this level, start off with an empty slot in your equipment. You will need an empty slot in your inventory to pick up the card, and it's easier to start with an empty slot than it is to throw something away in the field.
Don't bother going out of your way to grab enemies to Fulton. You will have to take out several as you go through the five areas that the merc could be in. In addition to the CIA merc, whom you will want to capture if possible, there is also a POW in the Ruinas de Xochiquetal and the Selva de la Leche: Jungle if you make it all the way down there.

Chrysalis Battle

The FIM-43 is strongly recommended for this battle. It has a lock-on ability which really helps because the Chrysalis often dodges non-guided rockets. A machinegun is also recommended. Chaff grenades are also very helpful; they will buy you time to aim your shots or interrupt the Chrysalis' attacks.

Aim for the AI pod; the cylinder on the front of the Chrysalis. Attacks to the pod do more damage than other areas.
The Chrysalis has three attacks. The machinegun is the most common attack, and it can be dodged by running. It also shoots out drones. Use your machinegun to destroy these drones as quickly as you can. If you don't kill them quickly, they may pick you up. You can break free by moving the analog stick quickly, but it's best to avoid getting picked up at all (you don't want to break the analog stick on your PSP after all). It's third attack is to aim a targeting laser and then shoot a very powerful rail gun. There are some ruins and hallway on the southeast side of the map where you can take cover.
Once you've done enough damage to the Chrysalis it will the AI pod will fall over. Just like the Pupa battle, run over there and get in. You will see a mini-game where you must pull out circuit boards. Try get get the ones with icons next to them. Grab as many as you can and you will not only destroy the Chrysalis, but get some parts to build your own metal gear.

Chapter 3: A Nation Reborn

Travel To The Mine Base

This mission takes place in a single area. You can either sneak your way to the exit, or you can take out all the soldiers in the area.
There are two POWs here. One is on the northwest side, the other on the southeast side of the area. The one on the northwest side in on top of a roof. You can reach it by placing the love box on the ground and standing on that.

Eliminate The Guards

This mission is a battle, so arm yourself accordingly. You must kill or capture the 24 enemy soldiers you encounter. They attack in waves, as soon as you kill the last enemy of one wave, the next will attack. Most of the waves come out a door on the north or south side of the area. If you are ready for them you can shoot a rocket at them as they are coming through the door. This is a great way to take out an entire wave at once. There are five waves.
  1. The first wave is drones and snipers. The snipers have laser sights, so you can tell where they are. The second wave
  2. This wave comes out the north entrance. There are six soldiers in this wave.
  3. Snipers and a guy with a rocket launcher.
  4. Soldiers. They tend to charge at you. Hit them with a rocket if you see them in a close group.
  5. Two soldiers and two snipers.
There are also two POWs on this map you can pick up. If you want them you must pick them up before you kill the last enemy.

Cocoon Battle

The Cocoon is a giant tank. It is not supported by infantry, so you only have to focus on one target.
When fighting the Cocoon know that most if its weapons are long range. You can avoid many of its attacks by running directly under the tank. As long as you avoid the treads you will be safe from most of its attacks. There are two vents on the bottom of the tank, and you can shoot these to do a lot of damage to it. The only thing to watch out for while you are under the tank is that it sometimes lowers it self down. You can use the action button to do a Superman-like lift, and hold the entire tank up, or you can just run out from under it.
Once you have destroyed the vents on the bottom of the tank, you can run out and attack the AI pod. Take a couple of shots at it with your rocket launcher. When the tank is about to attack again, run back underneath it.
Once the AI pod lowers, climb up the ladders and blast open the pod. You may want to go up the ladder just before the pod lowers. If you take too long getting to the pod it may heal. As with the other battles, once you enter the pod you will have to do a mini-game where you pull cards out of the pod.

Infiltrate The Underground Base

AI Weapon Hangar: You start this area on the upper floor of a two-story room. Remember that you can hang off rails to avoid detection. There are two guards on the upper level, and three on the lower level. Three of those are guarding the elevator, which takes you to the next area. There is a POW in the southwest corner of the lower floor.
Underground Passage A: There are five guards in this area. About 3/4 of the way through this room is a POW in the center of the room on the floor.
Underground Passage B: In this room you will encounter guards armed with shields. Your guns can't go through the shields, so you will have to attack them from the sides if you want to shoot them. A better strategy is to sneak past them.
When you go through the door you will see an interactive scene. If you do it correctly you will get an ID card that makes the next level much easier. If you don't, you can still do the next mission, it's just a little harder.

Torture Chamber Escape

For this mission you don't have the ability to do your normal mission prep and choose your weapons and gear.
This mission starts with an interactive scene. Press the action button when prompted to prevent Snake from passing out for as long as possible. If you are having trouble with the button mashing, it is suggested to set the psp down on a table to speed up the tapping.
When you regain control, go to the mirror in the cell and press the action button. Snake will get a hacksaw. If you got the ID card from the interactive scene at the end of the last mission you can use it to open the door. If you didn't, use the hacksaw to saw the door open. Be sure to use the saw only when the guard is away.
Once the door is open, go outside and hide. Wait for the guard to come by, and use melee attacks on him. Beating him into submission works, but a chokehold is your best bet. At this point you can head for the exit on the southeast corner of the area and end the mission. You could also stick around and do some recruiting.
Head through the hall (it doesn't matter which way, the hall goes in a circle). You will find more guards. You can take them out with choke holds. There are two small rooms on the west side of the area. In one is rations, in the other a Fulton. There is also a control room off the main hallway, and it can be used to open the other cells. If you open them, you can pick up a POW.
  • SECRET- There are 2 other scenes like the interactive secne that can also be unlocked in this mission. For sequences, don't get out, wait until the guard makes 2 rounds, then you will unlock more sequences.

Head For Peace Walker's Hangar

In this mission you will be backtracking through some of the areas you passed in Infiltrate The Underground Base, but you will going through different parts of these areas.
AI Weapon Hangar: When you enter the room, head to the left (west) side of the room, and head up the stairs to the cat walk. You will find a POW here. The exit is in the northwest corner of the room, and there are two guards next to it. When they separate, take them out.
Underground Passage A: In this area you will find two guards and a POW. Take out the guards however you like and rescue the POW.
Underground Passage B: As you enter this area, look to your left and you will see a POW. You can stay on the catwalk, or go down to the lower level. The upper level is more narrow, but there are fewer guards. On the east side of the room, go down the stairs, but watch for a the guard with the shield near the exit. If things go wrong, you can always make a break for the exit.

Peace Walker Battle

When selecting your weapons for this battle, you will want The Carl Gustav if you have it. You may even want to bring two rocket launchers.
Most of the Peace Walker's weapons aim to the front, so do your best to stay behind it. You will also want to stay at long range, because the Peace Walker has many close-range weapons.
After you drive the Peace Walker away, you will have to do an interactive scene.

Chapter 4: The Illusion of Peace

Infiltrate The U.S. Missile Base

This mission starts with an interactive scene.
There are a total of four POWs here, so keep in mind how many Futon balloons you have when capturing guards.
Back Gate: This area is a great place to recruit guards. They have helmets, so a good way to grab them is to use the stun rod. You start on the east side of the area. The west part of this area is a hallway. Patrolling this hall is a drone, so watch out for it. Just before this hallway is a ladder going down to a trench. Not only does this trench provide cover from the drone, but there is also a POW here you can rescue.
Small Maintenance Dock: There are only three guards here, but the real problem is the drone in the center of the area. If you can, take it out with a silenced weapon (like the M10). There are two POWs you can rescue.
Rooftop: There is an drone in the center of the area, and four guards. The area is divided in two by a walkway. One guard is on the north side, and three are on the south. Once you've taken out the drone and the guard on the north side, you can use a long range weapon to take out the other guards, assuming you have a long range weapon. If not, you can take them out at close range. There is a POW near the south wall of the second area.

Head To The Control Tower

This is a heavy combat mission. The area is on alert, so it is hard to sneak anywhere. Your best bet is to shoot your way through.
At the end of this mission you will have to deal with a helicopter, so you may what to bring the FIM-43, otherwise this may be a suicide mission. At the very least, you will want to bring a rocket launcher (maybe the Carl Gustav). Because of the alert so you will want to bring a heavy (preferably lethal) weapon like a machinegun. If you have the Battle Dress Uniform you can bring a third weapon; a sniper rifle works well in this third slot. Because of this mission's heavy combat, a third weapon really comes in handy.
Rooftop: You were just here, so you will know the area. Take out the enemies on the south side, and kill any that cross the walkway. Once everyone on the south side of the area is neutralized, use the sniper rifle to take out anyone on the north side. When the area is clear head to the exit.
Small Maintenance Dock: You will start this area on a balcony overlooking the area. This is a good spot to fight from, so you may want to pick off enemies from here. You can also go down the stairs and set up on the south side of the area. From here you can take out enemies at long range with your sniper rifle. On the west side of this area is a POW.
Main Maintenance Dock: This is a long, narrow hallway. There are lots of enemies here, including snipers. Use your sniper rifle to take out targets at long range. Keep an eye out for drones, snipers, enemies rushing at you, and a guy with an RPG. All of these enemies are pretty ineffective at long range, so as long as you don't let them get close, or don't advance into them, you should be ok.
Underpass: This area is a long hall. There are enemies on walkways above you. You can shoot it out with them if you want, but a better option is to sprint for the exit. Equip a machinegun, turn auto aim on, and run for the exit. If you do this, keep running and don't stop to fire.
Heliport: Here you will have to face a helicopter and several ground troops. If you don't have much advanced weapons and don't have enough rations, you're out of luck. Take cover as best you can, but know that the helicopter's missiles will blow holes in the walls. Take out the ground troops first (sniper rifle and machinegun), then use your rocket launcher on the chopper. When the chopper goes down look at the hallway on the north side of the area. Another group of enemies will come through this hall. Use grenades or other area effect weapons as they come through the hall. Your machinegun also works well when they are close together. Enter the elevator to end the mission. Now, to finish off Peace Walker once and for all... after the cutscene.

Peace Walker Battle 2

Bring a rocket launcher, or even two, to this battle.
At the start of this battle you have one minute to damage the AI pod. If you do enough damage within that one minute it, you will interrupt the launch sequence. If you don't interrupt the launch sequence, you will lose the battle.
The Peace Walker now has a drill that burrows underground and puts bombs directly under your feet. Like most of the Peace Walker's weapons, you can avoid this one by staying on the move. It has a freeze beam, but it only works at close range. Because it has so many close range weapons you will want to stay at long range anyway or get close enough to the AI pod while the attack occurs and your damage will amplify. It also has a Leg Charge attack that will need to be avoided by getting in a corner or one of the three gaps on the walkway. Finally it a has a missile defense system. When the orange sphere at the top of the creature is glowing all your missiles will miss. Wait for it to turn off before shooting or you can use your machine gun to shoot off the orange sphere and stun it for a few seconds.
Your strategy for damaging the Peace Walker is the same as before: hit it with lots of rockets. Aim for the AI pod.
When you've done enough damage you will see a scene, then get to pull boards out of the main pod. None of the boards have icons, so just pull out as many as you can. After pulling out all the boards, you will see an interactive scene.

Peace Walker Battle 3

This mission is more of a shooting challenge than anything. The Peace Walker can't move. Hit it with rockets (bring multiple rocket launchers) and even artillery strikes. Use grenades and whatever else you have.
After you destroy Peace Walker, you will see a scene. The game's credits will roll. But the game isn't over yet. There is still one more chapter to go. At this time, Amanda will have made a full recovery and you no longer have to worry about sending her back to Sickbay.

Chapter 5: Outer Heaven

All of the Zadornov Search missions have the same objective: to find Zadornov. In each mission he is hiding in a random location. You must search each area to find him.

Zadornov Search Mission 1

To unlock this mission you must replay some of the Main Ops missions.
There are two maps in this mission, and Zadornov could be in either one. Search around and find him.
Completing this mission will get you the Soliton Radar design specs. This items, once researched, will make finding Zadornov much easier in future missions.

Zadornov Search Mission 2

To unlock this mission you must play some of the extra ops missions. If no new extra ops missions are available, try replaying some of them.
Again, there are two maps, and Zadornov could be on either one.

Zadornov Search Mission 3

To unlock this mission you must play some of the extra ops missions. If no new extra ops missions are available, try replaying some of them.
There are four maps where Zadornov could be hiding.

Zadornov Search Mission 4

To unlock this mission you must play some of the extra ops missions. If no new extra ops missions are available, try replaying some of them.
Zadornov is somewhere on the first map. You can find him by inspecting the blue doors (the same way you found Chico in the "Rescue Chico" mission). There are two other maps here, and you can explore them to find some POWs and capture enemies.

Zadornov Search Mission 5

To unlock this mission you must play some of the extra ops missions. If no new extra ops missions are available, try replaying some of them.
In this mission, don't bother searching for Zadornov: he is always in the same location. Move through all four maps, and go to the exit. Here you will see an interactive scene where you must ID a truck by looking at its license plate.

Zadornov Search Mission 6

To unlock this mission you must play some of the extra ops missions. If no new extra ops missions are available, try replaying some of them.
This mission has only one map. Zadornov is in one of the boxes.

Metal Gear Zeke Battle

Half the battle of this mission is unlocking it. To unlock it you must:
  • Have in Intel Team level 40 or higher.
  • Have two upgraded Mother Base plants.
  • Have a fully operational Metal Gear Zeke, including the rail gun.
  • Complete Zadornov Search Mission 6, and then do at least three more missions.
Once you have done all that, you will get a call from Kaz telling you Zadornov has escaped again. Starting this mission isn't straightforward either. You must start 001 Target Practice: No Limit. Once there you must go to the second floor and find Zadornov. A cutscene will run and then will conclude to the next mission. Select it, prepare, and start the mission. You may need missile launchers and rations. Supply drops are done for you, just go to the panel and press the action button.
You will now have to face off against Metal Gear Zeke. There are four panels on the edge of the map. Run up to one of them and use it to call in a support strike. You can also use rocket launchers to attack it. There are also panels on the deck that can be used as cover. Keep using an attack plan and keep enough ammo and rations in case you need them.
Once you defeat Zeke you will see the final ending of the game.
